Alaska-the land of moose, bear, caribou, and fish!
This fishing adventure should cure your short- term desire for fishing with a variety to satisfy everyone’s taste. You will be able to do full day fishing of Salmon (sockeye and silver) fishing on the renowned Kenai River, doing a fly in experience, full day float fishing on Kasilof River, and full day of halibut fishing in Cook Inlet. All equipment, licenses, bait, transportation (van, airfare, and fly in) and lodging needed is provided. Also included are all meals, other than the coming and going to the fishing lodges. Most mornings are early departures, as the guide services use the tide tables to determine when the fishing is best. There usually is plenty of time in the afternoon to relax or catch up on sleep if desired.
August 3, 2024- Depart from MSP. We hope to get an early morning flight to arrive in Anchorage around noon. This will allow us time to meet at the airport, drive to our lodging, get fishing licenses, and be set up for the morning’s adventure. You may get your own flight and take $500 off the cost of the trip. If you do this, please arrive no later than 2:00 p.m.
August 4, 2024- This morning will be the sockeyes on Kasilof (or possibly the Kenai if that is better fishing as determined by the guides) depending on runs. It is a full day of salmon fishing, so be ready to reel them in!
August 5, 2024- This morning it is back to the salmon on Kenai River. Although it is booked as a full day, we generally have our limits by noon.
August 6, 2024-Today will be the fly -in day to a remote location for those nice fresh catches while watching the bears beside you. After fishing we will continue on to a new location for the rest of our stay.
August 7, 2024-Today we will take a day off to visit some of the local sights. One of the stops will be going to Homer and spending some time on the Homer Spit.
August 8, 2024-Today we will go out into Cook Inlet to see who can reel in the biggest halibut. We will return to the cabins for our last night.
August 9, 2024- This morning we will pick up the halibut and go on to pick up our salmon as we make our way back to Anchorage. We will attempt to get an early evening flight back home tonight. This will result in us arriving in MSP early morning. You may have the option of staying one more night in Anchorage to allow you to fly home the next morning, if you do not wish to fly overnight, at an additional cost of $100/person. If you are getting your own flight, let me know, of course, but more importantly ….do not plan to depart prior to 5 p.m. or you will miss your flight as we are a good 5 hour drive back to Anchorage and have to load the fish also.
Who We Are
Jerry and Diana Kokoschke and More for Le$$ Tours
We are career teachers who have put together tour
packages that we feel would be interesting to many people.
Jerry has a BSEd in English and German. Diana has a BSEd
and MSEd in special education.
We spent the summer of 2002 operating a bed and
breakfast house in Germany for a non-profit organization,
which allowed us to enjoy German life from the inside.
We also have hosted 23 exchange students in our home and
have traveled to visit many of these students. We were
encouraged by friends to develop tours to non-traditional
places that we had encountered.
Because we have direct contact with all of our
destinations, we are able to offer more sights at a lower
cost to you. Thus, we developed our name, More for Le$$
Tours, in 2000.
We lead very active lives in addition to our travels.
* Jerry is a retired teacher, a Melvin Jones Lions Club recipient,
an auctioneer, an avid fisherman, and enjoys gardening and
woodcutting.
* Diana is a retired teacher of 43 years, operates a tax and financial
services business, books all the tours, and enjoys doing cross stitch
The cost of the tour is $ 3950 per person. Unfortunately, we had to increase this cost due to the fly-in price almost doubling, increased cost of rental vehicles tripling for next year, gas, and groceries up significantly in Alaska as they are everywhere.
Some of the beds are twin beds in a dormitory style room, while some are in separate bedrooms. All rooms have a shared bathroom within our own cabins.
